Funkstille Skin Contact from Niederösterreich, Austria, is a captivating dry Orange still wine, crafted from a blend of Grüner Veltliner and Muscat grapes. This unique wine undergoes skin contact during fermentation in stainless steel, followed by 8 weeks of lees contact and 6 months in French oak, imparting a gentle tannic grip. It offers an aromatic profile of ginger, white pepper, and delicate flowers, with hints of green tea and mandarin. The palate reveals generous fruit, fabulous razor-like acidity, and a complex texture. This vegan and vegetarian-friendly wine pairs beautifully with roasted vegetables, mature hard cheeses like Comte, or a creamy risotto bianco.

Vinification
The winery is energy neutral, producing energy from their Biogas plant and a Photovoltaic system which produces more energy than is required. The grapes are pressed and left in contact with the skins to extract the orange colour and additional flavour compound, then the must is fermented in stainless steel tank with selected yeasts for 15 to 25 days at controlled temperatures which get warmer the nearer they get to the end of fermentation. There is no malolactic fermentation but the wine benefits from 8 weeks of lees contact. Gentle fining and cold stabilisation.
