Raats Family Wines Red Jasper Stellenbosch, South Africa is a still, dry Red wine crafted from Cabernet Franc and Malbec grapes. It undergoes 16 months of ageing in French tight grain oak barrels, contributing to its complex profile. Expect intense blackberry, black cherry, and bramble aromas, with hints of forest floor, dark chocolate, aniseed, and spicy tobacco. The palate is velvety, offering dark fruit flavours with a finish of fresh mint and cinnamon. This vegan and vegetarian-friendly wine, though uncertified organic, pairs beautifully with venison, aged sirloin, and mature hard cheeses.

Vinification
Grapes were hand sorted three times, crushed and left to cold soak on the skins for five days. After fermentation the grapes were basket pressed and allowed to undergo malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine was then aged for 16 months prior to bottling. Fermentation Temperature: 28C. 16 months in French tight grain oak barrels (20% second, 30% third fill and 50% fourth fill).
Flavour profile
This Red Jasper offers an exceptionally intense and complex experience, with abundant notes of blackberry, black cherry, and bramble on the nose, complemented by subtle hints of forest floor, dark chocolate, aniseed, and spicy tobacco. The palate is perfectly balanced and velvety, echoing the dark fruit with a lingering finish of fresh mint, cinnamon, and perfume.
Serving recommendation
Serve at 16-18°C. Decanting is recommended to allow this structured red to express its full character.
