Riesling

Wéingut Max Ferdinand Richter Riesling Kabinett, Erdener Treppchen Erdener Treppchen QmP, Mosel, Germany, is a delightful White (still) wine, off-dry in style and crafted from 100% Riesling grapes. This vegan and vegetarian-friendly wine undergoes slow, temperature-controlled fermentation in traditional old oak fuders with indigenous yeast, followed by three months of ageing in old German oak. It presents a beautifully balanced profile with pure, slate-driven minerality, vibrant grapefruit, pineapple, and lemon zest aromas, leading to a palate of juicy yellow plum and ripe lemon. Its well-integrated acidity makes it wonderfully approachable, pairing exquisitely with spicy curries, sushi, lobster, or smoked meats.

75.0CL , 8.0% ABV , Vintage: 2022

Vinification

Erdener Treppchen is truly a road that leads to the stars! One of the most challenging vineyards to work, located around the town of Erden, where they cling close to the steep, rocky slopes that are only accessible by narrow stairs (Treppchen) carved into the hillside ... but the hard work of tending to these vines is well rewarded. The ferruginous, red slate stone terroir produces racy wines with great complexity, showing intense yet spicy minerality and balance. Healthy grapes are hand-harvested in the first week of October, followed by gentle pressing and slow temperature-controlled fermentation in traditional old oak barrels (fuders) with indigenous yeast and eschewing the use of any chemical fining agents.

Flavour profile

This off-dry Mosel Riesling offers a beautifully balanced profile, showcasing pure slate-driven minerality alongside vibrant notes of grapefruit, pineapple, and lemon zest. Its approachable nature is complemented by a juicy yellow plum finish and well-integrated acidity.
